On Saturday, March 8, the Lady Jags opened some eyes.

The girls showed what they could do at the St. Joseph High School softball complex, where they squared off in a double header against the Division 1 Houston Baptist Huskies.

Game one was a heartbreaker for the Jags when they lost in extra innings 3-2. In game two the Jags had redemption in mind and pulled out the 3-1 victory over the Huskies.

It was a packed house on Saturday. The bleachers were full. People were spread down the first and third baselines. There were ranking officials from University of Houston-Victoria at the hospitality tent.

The girls were very happy to be playing at home.

"I was so glad we get to play some games at home." Amber Scott said.

Brittany Faas said, "After being on the road for so long, it feels good to be able to play at home."

The team lost the first game and had to step their play up to be able to win that second game.

"I was not very happy with the way the first game ended. We just could not get anything going. In the second game they really stepped it up," said Head Coach Keri Lambeth.
